The Life I’ve Built in Tacoma (And Why I Love Helping Others Do the Same)
Growing Up in Tacoma
I was born and raised in Tacoma, which means this city isn’t just where I work. It’s home in the fullest sense of the word. It’s where I’ve watched neighborhoods evolve, where I’ve seen small businesses come and go (and come back stronger - hello Gather Juice!), and where I’ve built relationships that span decades. There’s something grounding about knowing the streets, the seasons, and the subtle differences between one pocket of Tacoma and the next.
That kind of familiarity isn’t something you can replicate quickly, and it’s a big part of how I help my clients feel confident in their decisions.
My First House
My path into real estate started with my own experience buying a duplex here in Tacoma. When my partner Alex and I started the process I remember feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what I didn’t know. Looking back, that experience shaped how I show up for my clients. I’ve become the person I needed during that process, someone who communicates clearly, guides you through each step, and makes things feel manageable.
Since then, we’ve continued investing in Tacoma. We’ve purchased homes, remodeled them, and built DADUs from the ground up. That hands on experience gives me a deeper understanding of what’s possible, whether you’re buying your first home or thinking more long term.
Tacoma Isn’t Just a Market, It’s a Community
When people think about buying a home, they often focus on price, interest rates, or square footage. Those things matter, but what makes Tacoma special goes beyond that.
It’s:
Walking through the Proctor District Farmers Market on a slow Saturday morning
Catching sunset views near Ruston, or maybe even Orcas!
Finding your go to coffee shop that becomes part of your routine (Lander is my favorite!)
Living in a neighborhood where people know each other
Tacoma has this balance of being approachable and real, while still offering so much in terms of lifestyle. That’s what draws people in and what makes them stay.
Helping Clients Build Their Own Version of Home
Real estate, for me, is not just about transactions, it is about helping people find their place in a city I already love! One of my favorite parts of this work is that no two clients are the same. Some are buying their first home and trying to make sense of everything. Others are selling a place they’ve outgrown or moving closer to family. Some are thinking long term, investing, adding an ADU, or creating more flexibility in how they live.
No matter the situation, my role is to:
Help you understand your options clearly
Create a plan that actually fits your life
Guide you through each step without it feeling overwhelming
It’s not just about finding a house. It’s about helping you build a life that works for you.
Why Tacoma Continues to Be a Smart Place to Buy
Even as the market shifts, Tacoma continues to stand out for a few key reasons:
Relative affordability compared to Seattle
Strong sense of community and identity
Access to water, parks, and walkable neighborhoods
Opportunities for value add properties like ADUs or multi family
I’m still seeing buyers get excited about Tacoma, and for good reason. There’s long term value here, both financially and in terms of quality of life.
Thinking About Making a Move?
If you’re considering buying or selling in Tacoma, I’m always happy to talk through what that could look like for you.
Whether you’re just starting to explore or ready to make a move, I can help you:
Understand the current market
Map out next steps
Create a timeline that makes sense
Reach out anytime, and if you know a friend looking to buy or sell, I would be honored to meet them!
